Apparently this is all a phase. Twitter// Ask// About// ...

So this is gonna be my last post.

I know after I post this there’s not gonna be a chance for me to take back what I’ve said and done. This is ‘aprilbase’s last post and I’m actually kind of glad. I’m not going to delete my account or vanish from the face of the earth. I’m merely going to leave it here and keep it as a reminder of who I am.

I’ve got several reasons for leaving this site, some of the most prominent being that I don’t want to be categorised with tumblr folk - no offence and I can’t really stand to read other people’s posts about things that I love. The main being Bon Iver.

I really dislike reading some of the things that’re posted about them. When people confuse them with one man, post lyrics to ‘Skinny Love’ every hour and post pictures of Justin on his own and give him all the credit for the music they produce. That’s one thing I don’t understand. How can you possibly believe that the albums that have been produced are the work of one man only? It’s impossible.

Justin had help with instruments and backing vocals on ‘For Emma’ he also invited 5 musicians to add their signature to ‘Bon Iver, Bon Iver’ and they did so fantastically. It’s only the heads of little immature 12 year olds who still believe in princes and fairy castles that state that they’re in love with Justin Vernon when they don’t know him at all. It confounds me.

I’m tired of seeing the who is Bon Iver tweets, the hype that has settled around them after their Grammy nominations and the release of the Deluxe Ed. I’d be bouncing off the walls if I believed that their success had brought about fans who can name every member of the band and have listened to every single song. I really would. But I can see that’s not true.

Their success is bringing about people who search for them on youtube and listen to their most well known stuff such as Flume and Skinny Love and they never delve any deeper. They don’t know of Justin’s self record and Hazeltons. They’ll never know who Matthew McCaughan is and they will most likely never even try to.

I pity them because they’re missing out on something wonderful. I think it’s a beautiful thing to be able to stick with a band through the highs and lows. And I will continue to do that with them. I will stand by my favourite musicians no matter how popular they get or how hated they become because that’s the person I am.

But I will no longer subject myself to reading the posts about them. I will no longer continue this blog just for people to reblog my images and like my Bon Iver related posts. If that upsets or bothers you then I’m sorry but it really is my choice.

I’ve gotta thank Sophie, or balanced-kind as you probably know her cause she’s kinda been the only person that reflects a true fan to me. I’m sure there are probably lots more of you but I’ll never know you and that’s a bit shitty. Feel free to unfollow me, I really wont mind. But I wont be answering any questons and I probably will never sign in again.

Bye.

“I’m so far from not caring.”

Ah man I’m so angry right now.

Aw, can’t wait til all the hype around Bon Iver dies and they return to being how they were 4 years ago. Safe, with me.
